This looks fantastic for the price! A charming, romantic little house to renovate in a small town with all amenities. The courtyard at the front looks beautiful. The house has double glazing and oil-fired central heating, which is expensive. I would try to install a good wood-burning stove to heat the entire house. That way, you’d only need the oil heating for emergencies or quick warming. A wood stove should work well for such a small space—and it’s much more economical, as firewood isn’t expensive in France. Another advantage: The house is connected to the sewer system. In addition to the already lovely floors that need restoring, I’d remove the plaster ceilings to likely expose the original beams. Then, you could insulate between the beams and add drywall. Leaving the beams exposed would make the house even more authentic. The only downside with this house is the roof. Apparently, it needs to be inspected and possibly replaced—that would be the biggest expense. However, since the house isn’t very large, the costs would be relatively manageable. But then again, what do you expect for this price?
