The Calvados properties are known for it's beautiful Normandic style cottages with timber framing and clay walls on a brick or stone foundation. These properties are long and low (�La Long�re) with slated roofs. Some properties can be dated back from the 17th century.
It is difficult to find bargain �Long�res�. Most of them are renovated so prices are high. Perhaps to find a bargain �Long�re� is to go more inland away from the sea. A good alternative is doing a barn conversion. Some authentic timber frame barns can still be found in The Calvados.
